Mesothelioma
Stage
Staging is the procedure of finding out how far the mesothelioma
cancer has spread. Doctors determine which treatments to use
based on the mesothelioma stage, or the cruelty of the disease.
Mesothelioma tend to grow and increase in unusual ways compared
to other tumors. Rather than forming a swelling, mesothelioma
tends to level from the pleural lining to force down against
the lung or abdominal organs.
Mesothelioma commonly does not increase widely to other organs
but, rather, tends to lengthily involve the chest and lungs
or abdominal crater before spreading to other outlying organs,
late in the schedule of the disease.
The word performance describes the scope of the cancer. When
the period of your cancer is known, your doctor can choose the
most suitable treatment. The staging system for mesothelioma
is at present under revision, but the staging structure at present
favored is that endorsed by the International Mesothelioma Interest
Group. Unluckily, accurate pre-operative staging of MPM is really
difficult.
The major mesothelioma staging system used is a TNM system,
similar to the system used for most other cancers.
T stands for tumor,
N stands for spread to lymph nodes, and
M is for metastasis.
